Yes, both plan versions are designed to be builder-ready. The Full set is workshop-level - covering framing, membranes, cladding, electrical fixtures and more, with a step-by-step assembly sequence that makes this a straightforward self-build for confident DIYers. The Lite set is architectural level, ideal for experienced builders and contractors who can work from design drawings independently.

If you have never built anything before, we recommend working with a local contractor or at minimum having one review the plans with you before starting.

Yes, the plans include both versions, you choose which one to go for depending on your site and needs.

Permit requirements vary by location and are the buyer's responsibility to verify with their local authority.

In most US jurisdictions structures under 120 sq ft and under 12 ft in height do not require a permit. In Canada and Europe requirements differ by municipality.

Our designs specify standard dimensional lumber framing, 1/2" plywood sheathing on walls, 5/8" CDX plywood on the roof, R-15 mineral wool insulation in walls, R-19 in roof, aluminum vapor barrier, WRB, 5/4x6 square-edge exterior cladding, aspen SHP bench boards and thermowood floor boards.

Some materials like exterior/ interior cladding spacing and board sizing can be adjusted to suit local availability and personal preference. Minor dimension adjustments may be needed to match your chosen materials - this is noted in the plans. Not sure which cladding or finish suits your space? The plans can be modified to suit your preferences. We offer minor customizations for $250, which includes adjusting window and door sizes or changing the exterior and interior cladding specification.

For anything beyond that, such as adding a changing room, modifying the layout, or a fully site-specific design, we offer a full custom design service starting at $1000.

The ceiling height above the top bench is 43 inches (109 cm). This is within the ideal range for an efficient and comfortable sauna experience.

The plans include electrical fixture locations and a fixture schedule covering the heater, control panel, lights and exhaust fan for the electric heater version. Full wiring schematics are not included - we recommend having a licensed electrician handle the final wiring based on the fixture layout provided and your local electrical code.

Our plans are designed as standalone structures. Attaching to an existing building involves structural and code considerations beyond the scope of these plans. We recommend consulting a local licensed architect or engineer for any attached build.
